The Cherry Trek: Rome

Rome is one of those cities that really leaves you without words to describe it.

The colors, the smells, the winding streets, the endless streets, the charisma, the character, the charm.

It’s a city begging to be explored, all the nooks and the roads that lead to somewhere, and all the roads that lead to nowhere.

The only phrase that seems to make sense is beautiful chaos.

Rome was the first city we truly got to explore. We only spent about 2 days in Athens, so there really was only much you could see. We stayed in Rome for 6 nights and it felt like we were there for weeks. We spent hours standing in line at the colosseum, to find that it really was worth the wait. Our feet tired from hours in the Roman Forum, and afternoons spent exploring where each street ended up. After 6 days, we still weren’t sure which streets connected in our little neighborhood, because we simply just couldn’t figure out how they winded together!

We stayed near the Piazza Navona, and I thought I was dreaming when we showed up to the front door of the apartment building. The doors were something straight out of storybooks and the narrow cobblestone streets were reminiscent of every vision you have ever had of Rome. Days were filled with history, endless art and architecture that takes your breath away.

Rome is a city of such warm people, warm streets & buildings, vibrant food and a vibrant pace of life. You’d find people lining cafes on the streets all times of day, especially late afternoon when people came together to simply be, and to be in community. Though the pace felt hectic at times, it truly is a city that lives life to the fullest. A great meal with great people seems to be what matters, something I could always get behind.

And since I said it was a city that leaves you without words, I’ll let the photos do the talking. Also, find a few of our activities/tips below!
