It’s amazing to see how many more resources are now available for new and expecting moms in the Charlottesville and Richmond area. When I was pregnant with my first child, I had access to a fair amount of support, but it wasn’t until my second needed an evaluation for an oral tie that I realized how many additional resources and experienced professionals I could have benefitted from.
Since 2022, the availability of local support has truly expanded, and I thought it might be helpful to share a few of my favorite resources as you navigate pregnancy or settle into life with your little one. There is so much support out there for your prenatal and postpartum journey! These aren’t ranked by importance—just a mix of resources I’ve personally used or wish I had known about.

She believes that every child should be granted the opportunity to maximize their potential, and is passionate about helping parents feel confident in their ability to help their baby excel with their motor skills throughout those critical first years of life.”

Kate White of Belvedere Integrated Healing Arts – she just moved to NC and offers virtual care, and also had recommendations!
Lauren Durrer Birth Services – birth doula services along with other prenatal education and support
Joyful Start Lactation – I worked with Joy when navigating the oral tie and nursing issues with my youngest, she was a wealth of knowledge and offers in-home visits, which was a game changer!
Flow Lactation – I haven’t personally used Flow, but they offer in-home services as well and I’ve been following on Instagram!
Charlottesville Pediatric Dentistry – We used this practice for a oral tie release and we are huge fans. Our daughters are now patients and we have felt so well cared for from day one!
Green Bean Baby Boutique – The sweetest local boutique for all things baby! Want to see that new car seat you’re thinking of in person? Want to shop for a baby gift locally? I adore this shop!
Venture Chiropractic – This practice offers prenatal and pediatric care.
Well-Fed Mamas – Prenatal nutrition counseling
Women in Motion – An amazing group of women caring for women! Physical floor therapy is what most of my friends know them for, but they offer amazing resources and other physical therapy. Truly couldn’t recommend them more!
Plenty Cville– Need a home cooked meal without cooking it yourself? This service even offers local delivery on certain days!
Kelly Cox Pregnancy and Birth Support – I haven’t worked with Kelly personally but I remember people raving about her prenatal classes during my first pregnancy. I wasn’t able to participate in her classes, and then the pandemic happened…and we all know how that changed everything. She’s expanded her services now and offers so much support to local mamas!
Better Because Birth – Maria offers postpartum care to help new mamas and families adjust during the wild and wonderful newborn season of life, often referred to as “the fourth trimester.”
A Brighter Birth – A birth and wellness collective of doulas, practitioners and references. Their website and instagram account offer a wealth of knowledge, info and connections to all different kinds of support and practitioners for your pregnancy, birth experience and newborn season!
Nurturing Birth and Beyond – Lactation services and childbirth classes
RVA Holistic PT – Physical therapy for prenatal and postpartum care
Pasha at Boketto – Infant bodywork and craniosacral therapy
Julie Kerr – ENT offering oral tie revisions and related support
This of course is by no means a comprehensive list, so if you’re a local mama and have some resources for prenatal or postpartum care you’d love to share, whether in Charlottesville or Richmond, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
