I’ve been talking about shooting film ever since I moved to Nashville….and we are going on 3 years. I’d be lying if I said fear didn’t play a part in that due to the learning curve, expense, etc. You name it, I thought it. But, the love of film work and the desire to learn has not waned a bit and has only grown stronger. So, a few months ago I bought a Canon 1N to start with 35mm. I have a lot of learning to do but I’m so excited to learn the ins and outs of shooting film. Not just for the “look” of film, but for the process. The delayed gratification and knowing your art + skill so well. The slow pace and the journey. I believe a great artist is one who enjoys their work and celebrates progress yet doesn’t ever settle in the realm of comfortable.
Here are a few shots from my first couple of rolls, and I can’t wait to share more. These were shot with a cheaper film (Fuji Superia 400) and developed at Walgreens, so I can’t wait to see results on pro film and a pro lab. I’ve officially signed up for a film workshop as well this July, so let the journey begin!

I take a limited number of sessions each month (plus, I’m a bit of a planner and always account for possible weather and sick days!) I’d love to set up a time to chat with you, hear your vision and answer any questions!
