Elliot: Newborn in New York City

One of the greatest honors is to have my sweet couples and clients come back to me as they walk into another season in life. Kate and Mark married in Nashville at The Bridge Building, and we have stayed in touch and become friends over the last few years. They live in New York City (my favorite city), so it’s been a treat to see them when we visit!

I was thrilled when Kate reached out to tell me they were expecting in September! We talked over the next couple of months and planned for me to stop through the city after Ben & Nancy‘s wedding in upstate New York since it was around her due date with some extra days built in. And of course, her sweet little man decided to stay cozy for a few more days, so we ended up rescheduling. I had the opportunity to make a special trip just for them and though it was a whirlwind of 24 hours, it was such a refreshing trip. The light in the city was simple and beautiful, just like the light in their apartment as well. I photographed this session on more film than I have in the past and I’m forever hooked. Classic black and white portraits will never grow old to me!
