Charlottesville 6 Month Baby Milestone Photo Session

August 13, 2021

When Jeremy and I were in college, we wore out every Dave Barnes album that was out. And on a random craving for some of his music the other day, I listened to one of his more recent songs, “We’re Gonna Miss These Days.”

Cue all the tears.

“Half heard conversations
We only get halfway through
‘Till the crying in the kitchen
Wanting me or you
Feels like all our blessings
Are just a test of faith
We’re gonna miss these days…”

I may or may not have been tearing up on 29, and well, it just got me thinking. It got me thinking about these long days that can feel impossible, yet slip between our fingers in the blink of an eye. Our little preschoolers will never be babies again. There will be days where our kids don’t cry out for us in the night. There will be days where they don’t let you hold them for comfort. And with that, an entirely new beautiful season comes, of course! Watching my friends with older kids is such a joy to see just how different seasons are full of such beauty.

And this all got me thinking too, that photographs truly hold these memories in ways we can’t wholly comprehend just yet. Sure, photographs can hide the hard parts of life with littles, but they are such dear reminders of what joy and sweetness is held in this fleeting season with littles.

So, in case you needed a little reminder to book those family photos. Don’t hesitate….we’re gonna miss these days. And hopefully photographs will guide you when these times with littles are an ocean of memories.

PS – you may remember this sweet family, as I’ve had the joy of photographing big brother during his first year of life, and now I have the honor and joy of photographing this sweet girl’s first year of life! I can’t believe she will be one this fall!
