2021 in Review: Charlottesville, VA Newborn & Family Photographer

Where to begin?

2021 brought a lot of change for me and my business, and for us personally as a family (Hello, expecting baby two!). My guess is that 2021 looked a little different than you imagined too. Whether the year brought expected or unexpected change, heartache,  or endless joy and exciting adventures as you got to hug your loved ones again. Or maybe a mix of it all. I think it was a year that surprised us all in countless ways.

Though I haven’t made the official announcement until now,  I thought this was the perfect time… The past year also brought a pivot for Amy Nicole Photography as I made the transition into focusing on photographing families. If you’ve been following along on instagram, or hopped over to the blog, then this may come as no surprise to you!

I had the joy of rounding out my weddings with the most amazing couples last year (seriously, I couldn’t be more thankful). They hosted the most beautiful family-centric weddings and I’m honored to have walked alongside them to celebrate and document their wedding day! Though it’s a chapter of my business that was hard to close,  I knew the time had come. In this season with littles, it felt like the best way to serve my family & my clients. I second shot my first wedding in 2007, so it’s been quite a ride!

So, to all the couples I’ve worked with over the years,  my goodness, what a gift.  Thank you! Thank you for choosing me and inviting me into your sacred days to celebrate. And to the amazing industry friends I made along the way,  thank you. Thank you for loving your clients well and thank you for the endless support you offered to me and my business over the years. I’m so very grateful.

And to the families who welcomed me in to document your sweet seasons all those years ago as a wedding photographer, thank you. I found a passion and avenue of  art that has brought me so much joy. I’m so excited for this transition and look forward to continue serving my family clients as your sweet little ones (and not-so-little ones) grow and change. If 2020 and 2021 taught us anything, it taught us to celebrate we can, hold our people close and to document the everyday and in-between. Savoring the sweet among the hard is one way we can keep moving forward among the craziness of this pandemic season!

Lastly,  I wish I could share favorites from each session in 2021. But that blog post would be insanely long, and one most people may not enjoy due to the never-ending length! These photographs from 2021 are simply a snippet of the amazing families I’ve had the honor of working with. These photos spoke to me, and I hope they speak to you.
