Relaxed Newborn Photos at Home in Charlottesville

When a new baby enters the world, time stands still.

It’s one of my favorite parts about the newborn season, not only through my experience, but also through documenting newborns in their first few weeks of life.

The hurries fade away (even if the chaos of motherhood never does), and we all have a chance to just focus on what matters and the sweetness of new life. The beauty of new life.

Sure, there are sleepless nights. Tongue ties. Nursing troubles. Finding the perfect bottle. Sibling jealousy and adjustment. The exhaustion is real…but there’s nothing that replaces the weight of your new child on your chest. The days drag on but it all fades so quickly.

That’s why I love lifestyle newborn photography. There are plenty of ways to photograph new babies, but I believe in photographing them in all their simple & sweet glory. In your arms, at your home. So that when they meet their next milestone and the milestones years from now, you can look back on your photos and be taken back to the newborn season. To the way you held them, the way you rocked them, the chair that became your favorite feeding chair, the window you looked out while changing each diaper, the way your oldest children tickled new baby’s feet, the way they smiled at their newest sibling, the way that big sis had a hard time holding onto their newest sibling.

How it all felt…that’s what I want you to remember.
