Fall Family Photos at James Monroe Highland in Charlottesville

Charlottesville is just one of those places that shines in each season….except maybe winter. I still haven’t found a place I absolutely adore in the winter though, so my expectations aren’t too high. Though if you grew up out west, you probably have some beautiful winter memories.

Even though I love Charlottesville in all seasons, it really lights up in the fall. The air is crisp, the mountains are blue and the light is golden. It’s prime time for weddings here in Charlottesville, but it’s also prime time family photos! Every year, I find new favorite locations each year, or I at least find new spots at locations I love to use. Last year, I had a few sessions at James Monroe Highland in different seasons and personally, it’s a favorite of mine in the fall!

If you hit the peak season of foliage, the tree-lined driveway simply can’t be topped. But that isn’t it! It’s one of the locations that really shines in the morning. You can get that golden hour vibe without having to shoot at golden hour, and if you have littles, you know that’s a gem because morning photo sessions are always a hit with little ones!
