Charlottesville Lifestyle Family Photos at Home in the Garden

Though at-home sessions are looking a bit different these days with Covid, I’m loving finding unique ways to incorporate a place that. has so much meaning to your family. This lovely family invited me to their home for their session, and we spent most of our time in the backyard exploring the garden they’d worked so hard on all summer. Gardening and bread making feel like the renewed hobbies of the year, and I have to say, I hope they don’t go away, but rather make a full comeback into a slower way of living.

We met bright and early on a September morning as the crisp fall air started to really make it’s way, and their little man even got to enjoy the first fig of the season. That’s a family session win if I do say so myself!

So, these photos are a lovely reminder that if you’re stressing about choosing a location, most often, home (or at least your neighborhood) is best! Everyone feels more comfortable in places they love, and feeling more at ease always makes for better photographs…especially photographs that feel unique to your family. I always believe that a great location is nice, but it’s all about the connection between you and your family that matters most…the rest just falls into place!
